PHARMACEUTICAL TECHNIQUES FOR THE FABRICATION OF POOR WATERSOLUBLE DRUGS A REVIEW
Abstract
Pharmaceutical technologies for increasing the solubility of drug substances have a prime role in its faster
dissolution and maximum absorption in the systemic circulation. Majority of the drugs possesses low
solubility leading to poor absorption and erratic bioavailability and thus failed to achieve a desired
pharmacological response. Therefore formulation scientists have adopted various techniques to overcome
solubility and bioavailability issues following oral administration. The selection of technique is primarily
based on the physicochemical characteristics of drug and dosage form. The present review highlights the
importance of solubility with a brief description of conventional and novel approaches that could be used
for solubility enhancement
